Everyone has a story. Everyone has a voice. And creativity isn’t something reserved for the “talented few” — it’s something we’re born with.
This eight-week, face-to-face creative writing course is designed to gently awaken that innate creativity and give you practical tools to begin (or deepen) your writing journey. Whether you’re interested in memoir, short stories, poetry, or simply exploring where your imagination takes you, this course provides a clear, supportive pathway to discovering what you want to write — and how to write it with confidence and clarity.
Across eight relaxed Wednesday afternoon workshops, you will:
- Learn a quick, accessible method to unlock ideas
- Develop your unique voice and writing style
- Experiment with memoir, fiction, poetry and short forms
- Gain confidence in sharing your work (if you choose to)
- Connect with like-minded people in a warm, encouraging environment
Pen brings decades of experience in writing and editing, including published novels, non-fiction books, short stories and poetry. She has previously taught at the ANU Centre for Continuing Education, and has run several popular courses here in Braidwood. Watching writers grow in confidence and discover their voice is one of her greatest joys.
These workshops are welcoming and pressure-free. There are no exams, no rigid formulas — just curiosity, exploration and the pleasure of making something new. You are free to read your work aloud, or simply listen and be inspired by others.
Research shows that creativity quietens anxiety and reconnects us to ourselves. In a busy, demanding world, writing can become a place of clarity, renewal and joy.
